Aggressive new pricing announced for the NEC Versa S Series of lightweight notebook computers; NEC Technologies Inc. reduces prices by up to 29% on the Versa S Series.

 Technologies Inc. Monday announced reduced pricing of up to $1,000 on its Versa Versa Versatile System Architecture (Genrad)  S Series of lightweight, high-performance notebook computers.

This new pricing makes the Versa S, which is available nationwide through major reseller channels and superstores, even more attractive to today's highly mobile professionals.

"This aggressive new pricing for the Versa S Series clearly confirms NECT's commitment to maintain our leadership position in the lightweight notebook category," said Bob Levin, director of marketing for NECT's Portable Systems Group.

"The Versa S is designed with one prevailing thought in mind: give users `no compromise' notebook features -- a full 9.5" color display, a large keyboard, up to 50MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  processing power and 340MB of storage -- in a sleek, lightweight platform at a price that's hard to beat."
