Agfa Monotype Announces Two End-User Color Applications for Printer OEMs.Business/Technology Editors WILMINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2001 Agfa Monotype Corporation
Monotype Imaging, Inc today announced two software applications that allow printer OEMs to offer much-needed color capabilities to their end-user customers. Designed for novice users with little or no color experience, ColorTune Adjust(tm) and ColorTune MatchUp(tm) allow users to quickly and easily obtain consistent, high-quality color output. Both products are scheduled for release later this year and will support the Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 2000, NT, Me, 98 and XP operating systems Operating systems can be categorized by technology, ownership, licensing, working state, usage, and by many other characteristics. In practice, many of these groupings may overlap. . Macintosh(r) support is planned for a future release. "Device manufacturers are well aware of the need to supply customers with a cost-effective, easy-to-use means of generating accurate and consistent color, especially when changes are made to paper and ink combinations," said Ron Iversen, general manager of Agfa Monotype's color group Color Group ASA was established in 1990 as a result of the merge between Jahre Line and Norway Line. The same year Color Line took over Fred. Olsen Lines cruiseferry operations, and then expanding its business further. . "ColorTune Adjust and ColorTune MatchUp are designed to meet these challenges. Furthermore, because these applications are so simple to use, OEMs can expect limited customer support calls." ColorTune Adjust ColorTune Adjust is a profile editing tool that allows users to modify industry-standard ICC-compliant color profiles for maintaining consistent and accurate color. Users can easily control the brightness, contrast and saturation levels within profiles. The software also has a cast removal function and a white point / black point adjustment. All profile modifications can be made within different ICC ICC See: International Chamber of Commerce rendering intents. Adjustments can be appended to an existing printer profile, and then saved as a unique profile representing specific ink and media combinations. ColorTune Adjust is useful in any market or application where ICC standards exist for creating and editing color profiles. The software also allows users to edit profiles generated by ColorTune MatchUp. ColorTune MatchUp By optimizing the "color match" between a selected scanner and printer combination, ColorTune MatchUp reduces or eliminates color disparities and other inconsistencies that are sometimes dramatic when comparing printed reproductions to their originals. In short, users are able to easily print images that match their originals with more consistency. ColorTune MatchUp is ideal for any setting where a color printer A printer that prints in color using three (CMY) or four (CMYK) colors of ink, toner or dye. Four color ribbons have been used in dot matrix printers, but these are rare today. A two-step process is all that is needed to color-match the printed reproduction to the original. Step one calibrates the selected scanner to the selected printer. Step two applies the calibration by automatically color-correcting the scanned image. Users can either send the color-corrected image to the printer, or save the image for importing into Adobe Photoshop See Photoshop. (r) or any other desktop layout application. ColorTune Imaging Tools and Services ColorTune MatchUp and ColorTune Adjust represent the latest additions to the growing line of ColorTune(r) imaging products and services for OEMs. In addition to these new applications, two ColorTune tool kits are available. The ColorTune Screening Tool Kit features software that allows OEMs to create and revise halftone screens for binary, multilevel mul·ti·lev·el adj. Having several levels: a multilevel parking garage.
