Agfa Monotype Announces Font Licensing Agreement with Sony; Fonts to be Bundled with SOCRATTO, Sony's New Non-Linear Digital Production Tool.

 today announced that Sony Corporation has entered into a worldwide agreement to license fonts for SOCRATTO, a high-end digital production tool for creating special effects special effects, in motion pictures, cinematographic techniques that create illusions in the audience's minds as well as the illusions created using these techniques.  and composite images for movies and commercials. SOCRATTO, which allows post-production artists to work interactively using any number of clips at any resolution, is scheduled for release in July, 2002.

"We're pleased to be working with Sony on such an exciting new product," said Doug Shaw, senior vice president of Agfa Monotype's OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  business unit. "Our fonts, which will be used for text such as video captions and movie credits, are ideally suited to meet Sony's needs for high quality, flexibility and Windows(R) compatibility."

In art printmaking, a technique prized because of its unique textural qualities.
 Century Schoolbook Century Schoolbook is a modern or didone classification serif typeface designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1919 for the American Type Founders (ATF). It is classified as old style, but the Schoolbook variation has elements similar to the Didone classification. (R), Book Antiqua(R), Photina(R), ITC Zapf Chancery(R) and ITC Zapf Dingbats Zapf Dingbats is one of the more common dingbat typefaces, which first gained wide distribution as one of 35 PostScript fonts built into Apple's LaserWriter Plus. Post-production artists running SOCRATTO on Windows platforms will be able to display fonts as graphic objects to create 3D text shapes from 2D outlines.
