Agfa Announces Price Cut for ePhoto 1680 Digital Camera.


WILMINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 1, 1999--Agfa Desktop Products Group (DTP See desktop publishing.

), a leading provider of award-winning digital cameras and desktop scanners, announced today that it has lowered the price on the ePhoto 1680 - its top-of-the line, megapixel One million pixels. Refers to the resolution of a digital imaging device (monitor, scanner, video camera, still camera, etc.). For example, a five-megapixel digital still camera might take a picture composed of 5,038,848 red-green-blue color dots (pixels).  digital camera. The ePhoto 1680 is one of several members of the ePhoto family, which includes the ePhoto 780, ePhoto 1280 and the recently introduced ePhoto CL30 and ePhoto CL50 digital cameras.

A flagship model in the ePhoto family, the ePhoto 1680 is a feature-rich solution for professionals who use photos in their work or require high-quality images for personal use. This digital camera solution provides photo-quality, 1.3-million pixel images, in a unique, user-friendly design. Agfa's breakthrough PhotoGenie(TM) technology further expands the 1680's overall image-quality, allowing the camera to achieve an image quality of up to 1.9 million pixels.

Several key features of the ePhoto 1680 make Agfa's digital camera truly unique to the marketplace. First is the camera's FlashTrack(TM) swivel zoom lens, enabling the user to zoom up to 6 times (3x optical and 2x digital). The rotating ro·tate

The camera also provides virtually unlimited picture storage with SmartMedia(TM) removable flash memory.

In addition to Agfa's PhotoWise software (V 1.6), a full-featured application for accessing, managing and enhancing digital photos, other software bundled with the ePhoto 1680 includes LivePicture's PhotoVista(TM) (V. 2.0), for stitching together seamless panoramic and 360(degree) surround images, and LivePix SE(TM), a superb photo-editing application with full FlashPix(TM) compatibility.
