Market Acceptance

All told, there are over 380 Chromapress digital printing systems installed around the world, including 20 of the newly available Chromapress 50i models for wide format printing. For example, Thebault DI, a division of L.P. Thebault Company, Parsippany, N.J., has installed its first Chromapress 50i system. A digital printing powerhouse A fourth-generation language from Cognos that was introduced in the late 1970s for midrange computers. It supports both character-oriented, terminal-based applications as well as Windows clients. Applications developed under PowerHouse can be imported into Cognos' Axiant client/server environment. , Thebault DI is the world's largest Chromapress user and is recognized as a leader in the techniques and processes of variable data printing applications for one-to-one marketing.

The company currently operates five Chromapress systems in round-the-clock shifts and produces the highest volume of variable data content among Chromapress users in the world. The projects integrate demographic databases and market research to deliver one-of-a-kind mailings to customers and prospects -- with content based on individual preferences and buying patterns. Agfa is helping to develop the personalized communications market through a variety of educational materials, for example, "Printing to an Audience of One," an invaluable resource guide for commercial printers and others who are incorporating personalized print solutions.

Agfa's Chromapress

Chromapress is a digital printing system that creates high-quality, four-color printing directly from PostScript files. It provides a complete system for efficient digital printing -- including powerful and productive front-end components, such as a full suite of software for workflow management, the IntelliServer press server, advanced PowerRIP, and the IntelliStream output manager. The award winning Chromapress 32i four-color print engine offers fast, full-duplex, 32-cm (12.7-inch) wide web-feed output. The new Chromapress Model 50i offers 50-cm (20-inch) wide output. With Agfa's exclusive Personalizer and Personalizer-X software, materials printed on Chromapress can be individually customized with variable text and images and printed on the fly -- a key enabler of the emerging communications paradigm known as one-to-one marketing. With IntelliStream, up to 100 percent full color variable data printing is possible.
