 players? Our cover story, "Sportsmanlike Conduct," page 34, tells how several agents and financial planners have cultivated professional football players as customers. Besides their love of the game, these professionals credit the NFL Players Association with helping them get their feet in the door of this niche clientele.

The association created the Financial Advisers Program in response to players being taken advantage of by inept financial advisers. While the average players' salaries are in the six figures, the average NFL career is only 3.5 years. So it's imperative to secure their current earnings for the future.

The program requires financial professionals to register with the union, meet certain requirements and undergo background checks. While not a true designation, like a Certified Financial Planner Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

A person who has passed examinations accredited by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, showing that the person is able to manage a client's banking, estate, insurance, investment, and tax affairs.
, the Financial Advisers Program does reflect the same principles as the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, said the CFP 1. CFP - Constraint Functional Programming.

3. CFP - Call For Papers (for a conference).
 Board chair, David G. Strege, CFP, CFA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986) Signed into law in 1986, the CFA was a significant step forward in criminalizing unauthorized access to computer systems and networks. . "Designations, Designators and Degrees," page 41, contains more than 100 insurance industry designations. Why are they so important? Strege said they are essential to all financial professionals because designations ensure that a professional has completed a specialized course of study. "Consumers need to feel that the person they choose to help plan for their future is competent and ethical."
