Vos, Jose Antonio Ocampo, and Ana Luiza Cortez coordinated and supervised the World Economic and Social Survey 2007: Development in an Ageing World, which they have revised and updated for this edition. The study analyzes the challenges and opportunities associated with ageing populations, and seeks to further the Madrid International Plan of Action of Ageing adopted in 2002. It highlights the need to recognize and harness the productive and social contributions that older people can bring to societies but are often prevented from doing so.
