 container business, Oji Paper has been studying the possibilities for restructuring the Oji Paper Group's business activities in this field. As a result of these studies, the company has decided to carry out four main restructuring measures.

Firstly, unification (programming) unification - The generalisation of pattern matching that is the logic programming equivalent of instantiation in logic. When two terms are to be unified, they are compared.  of the Corrugated Container Division of Oji Paper's Packaging Company with Seven Oji Paper Group Corrugated Container companies (100% owned by Oji Paper). This move is aimed at promoting cost reduction by creating a slimmer management system and integrating available management resources.

The name of new company will be Oji Container Co. Ltd., and Katsumi Watari will head it. The start date is set for Oct. 1, 2001. Secondly, changes in the Oji Paper Group's business structure will include the transfer and unification of more than ten operation offices. This will occur during the second half of FY 2002, with a planned staff reduction of 410 people. Other changes include the merger of Oji Paper's 100% owned subsidiary companies Honshu Shizuoka Container Co., Ltd. and Kino kino

Thirdly, Oji will attempt to improve cost competitiveness by stationing large lot-compatible large-scale mills in the Kunto region, which has the highest demand for corrugated containers among all the Japanese regions. The basic plan will be decided within FY 2001.

And lastly, with regard to the above-mentioned restructuring of the Oji Group's corrugated container business, a total investment of JPY JPY
