Aga Khan Studs sure to tempt buyers with choice-bred mares.

INTERNATIONAL money provided the backbone of last year's Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale, with representatives from many emerging racing nations digging deep to secure well-bred, top-performing producers for their broodmare brood·mare

The importance of foreign buyers was illustrated by the activities of Hugo Merry, who, with the help of Goffs and Irish Thoroughbred Marketing, has forged strong links with the Indian market. Last year the agent spent EUR944,500 on 47 fillies and mares, many of whom were destined for the subcontinent.

The popularity of the consignment from the Aga Khan Studs is a standing dish at this sale - last year it supplied the top-priced horse, the Blandford Stakes heroine Four Sins, as well as four other six-figure lots.

This year the Aga Khan Studs send up a 28-strong draft. The highlights could be lot 1023, Elasouna, a Listed-placed winning sister to Moyglare Stud Stakes The Moyglare Stud Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the Republic of Ireland for two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. She has had only one foal to race and is offered in foal to Dylan Thomas. Closely related to Elasouna is Elouana (1017), out of Edabiya and by Kalanisi. She was unraced and is in foal for the first time to top French sire Muhtathir.

Also from the Aga Khan comes Arameen (1020), a dual winner at two and a Halling half-sister to Azamour and Arazan, from the family of Astarabad, and Kalarouna (1072), a Selkirk half-sister to Kalanisi along with two other black-type winners.

The draft from Hamdan Al Maktoum's Derrinstown Stud also contains plenty with eyecatching breeding credentials, including Ghazal Ghaz´al

Gold Bar is in foal to Lawman. Another illustrious family is represented by Moyglare Stud's sister to Refuse To Bend and half-sister to Media Puzzle, Ripple Of Pride (1041).
