With this deployment, customer service representatives will continue to enjoy the user-friendly graphical interface See GUI.  they have known for years, while developers will easily transition ClientSoft's extension capabilities to the strategic .NET Framework.

AgFirst is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, the largest agricultural lending organization in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. . The bank provides funding and financial services to 24 farmer-owned financial cooperatives called Agricultural Credit Associations (ACAs). These ACAs, in turn, provide real estate and production financing to 80,000 farmers, agribusinesses and rural homeowners in the eastern U.S. and Puerto Rico.

from ClientSoft. AgFirst is in the process of replacing two of the mainframe systems with SQL Server and PeopleSoft. With the loan application system, they wanted to continue to leverage the proven mainframe functionality. Committed to the .NET Framework, AgFirst's decision to stay with ClientSoft was grounded in ClientBuilder's support for Visual Studio .NET development.

"The original ClientSoft interface was so successful and used for so long that our branch users never had to deal with the complexities of the green screen loan application," states Tony Stone, Director Customer System Services for AgFirst. "ClientBuilder's Visual Studio .NET capability allows us to re-purpose this valuable functionality without the added expense of learning a new programming language."

The ClientBuilder development tool enables Visual Studio .NET programmers to extend and integrate legacy data through their own environment. A wizard-driven tool, ClientBuilder snaps into the .NET Framework and easily exposes back-end transactions as components or Web services, shielding programmers from dealing with complicated, time-consuming mainframe logic.

"Companies like AgFirst with a strong .NET Framework initiative benefit greatly from the ease of use that ClientBuilder provides," states Robert Evelyn, Chief Operations Officer and Senior Vice President of Technology at ClientSoft. "By utilizing existing host-based applications, developer skills, and IT infrastructure, ClientBuilder allows enterprises to rapidly build and deploy new applications more efficiently than ever before."
