Ag Services of America, Cedar Falls Cedar Falls, city (1990 pop. 34,298), Black Hawk co., N Iowa, on the Cedar River; inc. 1854. It developed as a milling center in the late 19th-century after the coming of the railroad; its name is derived from the cedar tree. Largely residential, the city has light manufacturing. Cedar Falls is the seat of the Univ. of Northern Iowa and of the Evangelical Campgrounds, scene of the annual Interdenominational Bible Conference., announces plans to reduce its workforce by approximately 30 percent. The company has received a bank line of credit that will allow it to approve $250 million in loan commitments for the 2003 crop season, in comparison to $465 million last year In response, the company has enacted several cost-cutting measures, including the workforce reduction.
