After twenty-three years as editorial page editor of The News Advance in Lynchburg, Virginia Lynchburg is an independent city located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. As of the 2006 census, the city had a total population of 67,720, but is at about 70,000 residents as of 2007. , Bob Wimer retired in mid-January. He sent the following message to his friends and colleagues in NCEW NCEW National Conference of Editorial Writers :

"It's been a great ride.

"While I have gained much more from the listserv than I have contributed, I have enjoyed my association with NCEW going back to my first convention in Charleston, South Carolina South Carolina, state of the SE United States. It is bordered by North Carolina (N), the Atlantic Ocean (SE), and Georgia (SW). Facts and Figures
