AFTER SINGING SHARPLESS IN SIX SOLD-out performances of Madama Butterfly Madama Butterfly (Madame Butterfly) is an opera in three acts (originally two acts) by Giacomo Puccini, with an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa.  for L'Opera de Montreal, baritone James Westman spent part of June in a London, England, studio, where he was among the cast for a recording of Ricci's Corrado d'Altamura for Opera Rara. Summer activities also included Handel's Solomon, which opened the Elora Festival in July, and a duo recital of opera arias with tenor Roger Honeywell to close the Stratford Summer Music Festival Stratford Summer Music is an annual music festival operating in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, since 2001. Led by Artistic Producer John A. Miller, the festival hosts local and international performers, in indoor and outdoor performances over a three-week period in July and August.  Aug. 17. Westman begins next season as Count Almaviva in Opera Lyra Ottawa's Le nozze di Figaro (Sept. 13-20), followed by a role debut as the villainous Edward Gaines in Margaret Garner for Michigan Opera Theatre (Oct. 18-25).Then it is back to familiar ground with a reprise re·prise
