BS1235 Reuling (Netherlands School for Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion) compares interpretations of the verses, which spell out the consequences of Adam and Eve's sins, by a few central and near contemporary Jewish and Christian authors. She finds that the Pauline understanding of Christ as the new Adam radically influenced the Christian understanding of the first Adam, which highlighted the universal and lasting consequences of his sin.
