Afripa Telecom, a Unit of Atlantique Group to Deploy VocalTec's Essentra Equipment To Build Pan African VoIP Network.

HERZLIYA, Israel -- VocalTec Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:VOCL), a leading telecom equipment provider offering carrier class packet voice solutions, announced today that Atlantique Group, a leading pan-African data services provider and GSM operator (Telecel), is deploying a number of products within VocalTec's Essentra(R) Product Suite, to rapidly roll out new VoIP services and build new revenue streams.

Afripa Telecom, a unit of Atlantique Group, is expanding its network through the deployment of VocalTec's Essentra EX Peering Manager, a simple and cost effective peering solution. The initial deployment, which took place in March 2005 includes six Points of Presence (POPs) in Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Niger, Gabon and Congo, and Afripa Telecom plans a further expansion in two additional African countries.
