African diaspora.


African leaders meeting in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, on 19 July made a passionate appeal to Africans in the diaspora to show confidence in the mother continent and commit their resources to its development. Ten African leaders spoke at the Leon H. Sullivan summit which was organised to find ways to encourage private sector investment, especially from the Diasporan Africans.

The host president, Olusegun Obasanjo, said the reforms being undertaken by African countries were aimed at encouraging Diasporan Africans to return home and contribute more meaningfully to the continent's development.
