Irwin Hentschel is being honored for her work with the Rosa & Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development, which provides inner city disadvantaged youngsters with annual historical and educational research freedom rides aboard ATI's giant buses. The informative journeys through many U.S. states and Canada traces the path of the underground railroad, emphasizing its important role as an integral part of the early civil rights movement. The awards program, under the direction of CalState University Dominguez Hills' president, Dr. James Lyons Sr., will be hosted by actress Phyllis Stickney and Dr. Solomon Egbuber. In 1999, Irwin Hentschel's The Noel Foundation honored Rosa Parks with its "Life" award for her "courage, compassion and commitment to our youth." Recently (Feb. 23), Noel was the keynote speaker at The 11th Annual Black History Day's luncheon for the Workers Compensation Appeals Board honoring the memory of the late civil rights activist.
