Africa Technology Forum Outlines Strategic Initiatives to Close Africa's Digital Divide.

The Africa Technology Forum (www.africatechforum.com), a global non-profit organization A non-profit organization (abbreviated "NPO", also "non-profit" or "not-for-profit") is a legally constituted organization whose primary objective is to support or to actively engage in activities of public or private interest without any commercial or monetary profit purposes.  dedicated to growing technology in Africa and encouraging African entrepreneurship, has announced several new initiatives that promise to help Africa bridge the digital divide.

The initiatives include:
-- A mass information / education campaign in Africa touting the benefits of
technology, using many of the means utilized to transmit the AIDS message.

-- A campaign to increase the number of technology professionals through
training programs delivered over radio, through existing learning institutions,
with inexpensive books, and through other mass means.

-- A project to define what environment is needed for technology to thrive in
Africa and to communicate this to policy-makers. This will focus on
infrastructure and laws, for example.
