Afghans make bad conscripts.

HOW can we not laugh at the confused who advocate the young Afghans in France be returned home to fight the Taliban? What military leader would want the distraction Distraction

? How would he know these unwilling conscripts wouldn't unwittingly hinder, rather than help in killing their compatriots? Then there's the notion these Afghans should be doing a job our soldiers would prefer to leave well alone.

That's not true. Army recruitment has jumped over the last year.

Added to the venom directed at these sad Afghans are the wild accusations.

Some insist they're coming to Britain for idle lives on welfare. Others declare they're out to steal British jobs.

Sorry, but we can't have it both ways.
