Afghan students protest against "Quran desecration".


KABUL, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- Hundreds of students of Kabul University Thousands of students are studying at the university in fields of Agriculture, Economics, Pharmacy, Law, Literature, Science, Engineering, and Fine Arts. History

the Holy Quran by the US troops about 10 days ago. The protesting students, chanting slogans against the United States, its

President Barack Obama and the US troops, marched from the university campus

to the Afghan parliament where the gathering converted into a public meeting

and student leaders delivered speeches. Chanting slogans "death to America" and "stop unwaranted military

operations," the students demanded that the Afghan government take action

against those responsible for the desecration of the Holy Quran. This was the fifth protest demonstration by students of schools and

universities against the burning of copy of the Holy Quran in Maidan Mai`dan´

province. The incident was first reported from Maidan Shahr, capital of Maidan Wardak

province, about 10 days ago. Students of different schools and religious seminaries staged a protest

demonstration saying the US troops burnt copy of the Holy Quran during search

of a house. The Maidan Wardak government and the US forces press office

instantly denied the charges and said it was conspiracy of the opponents. The first demonstration was followed by more protests by students of

universities and colleges in Nangarhar, Khost and Kandahar provinces. Meanwhile, a US soldier and several militants were killed in southern and

southeastern Afghanistan during separate incidents of violence. A statement from US press office on Sunday said the soldier died in an
