Afghan Ambassador thanks Pak for accommodating more than 3 million Afghan refugees.ISLAMABAD, November 06, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Afghan Ambassador, Mr. Majnoon Gulab called on Federal Minister for SAFRON, Najmuddin Khan in his office on Friday. Both exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. The Afghan Ambassador thanked Pakistan for accommodating more than 3 million Afghan refugees Afghan refugees (known as Muhajir Afghans in South Asia) are people who fled Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion in 1979 and during the civil war that followed. Since the early 1980s to the late 1990s, there were approximately 3 million Afghan refugees staying in in Pakistan. The Ambassador expressed concern over the detention of Afghan refugees in Pakistan. He further said that Afghan government understands that detained refugees are released after checking their POR POR problem-oriented record.
