Afforestation in support of economy and the ecosystem.


TUNIS, Nov 21, 2009 (TAP) -- As part of celebrating Tree Day, the Ministry of Agriculture and hydraulic resources specifies that31,567 million saplings have been produced this year including 3,386 million ornemental ones.

 the same indicates that in 2008-2009, 11 249 hectares have been planted with wood trees with a rate of success reacjing 65% in addition to 6855 hectares planted with fodder with a rate of success reaching 69%.

The targeted purpose consists in afforesting, by 2020, 250 thousand hectares at the rate of 27 mille hectares a year starting from 2012. The afforestation rate is expected to reach 13,5% in 2011 and 16% by 2020.

As part of celebrating Tree Day this year 7 thousand posters have been made available to raise awareness about afforestation and its stakes in addition to one thousand brochures introducing natural parks and reserves.
