The company named Henry G. Hortenstine as executive vice president of computer outsourcing services, Gary A. Williams as senior vice president of marketing, and Thomas L. Schoen as senior vice president and national sales director. In addition, ACS named Clay A. Hill and Richard L. Jewett as regional sales vice presidents, Don R. Bender as vice president of marketing support and Peter J. McLaughlin as director of corporate communications. According to ACS Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Darwin Deason, the executive changes are part of an overall strategy to position ACS for future growth. "ACS is building up steam, and strengthening our outsourcing and marketing teams is key to our continued growth," Deason said. "We're well positioned to handle the growing demand for outsourcing." Before being promoted to his current position, Hortenstine served as senior vice president of business development at ACS, with responsibility for all sales, marketing and acquisitions. In this new post, Hortenstine oversees ACS' outsourcing division, representing 60 percent of the company's overall revenues and one of the fastest growing segments in ACS. Prior to joining ACS in 1989, Hortenstine was chief operating officer of Lomas Mortgage USA from 1987 to 1989. In 1981, he founded Lomas Information Systems, where he served as president until 1987. Hortenstine has also held positions as chief information officer at Crestar Bank (formerly United Virginia Bank) and marketing manager at IBM. Before joining ACS, Williams was the director of business development for BSG Consulting. Prior to BSG, Williams was a management consulting partner with Coopers and Lybrand for 12 years. Previously, he held a variety of sales and technical management positions at IBM. Schoen comes to ACS from Litton Computer Services, where he served most recently as vice president of business development. Schoen joined Litton in 1982, with responsibility for all commercial sales. Previously, Schoen was president and chief operating officer of DataCor Services Inc. and vice president and general manager of Multiple Access Inc. He has also held a variety of sales and management positions at Marketing Sciences Corporation, University Computing and Service Bureau Corporation. Hill joined ACS from Power Computing Corporation of Dallas, Texas, where he was a sales representative of outsourcing services. Prior to Power Computing, Hill was an outsourcing services sales representative at ACS. Jewett also joins ACS from Litton Computer Services, where he was director of national business development from 1992 until 1995. From 1983 to 1992, Jewett held a variety of sales and management positions at Litton. Prior to joining Litton, Jewett held sales and management positions at Canada Systems Group and Multiple Access, Inc. Bender, who joined ACS in 1989, was director of technical sales support at On-Line Business Systems, Inc. In his previous position at ACS, Bender was regional manager of sales support for the company's western region. Before joining ACS, McLaughlin served as director of corporate communications for Micrografx Inc. Prior to Micrografx, McLaughlin was director of communications for EDS' Technical Products Division. In his new post, McLaughlin is responsible for all facets of corporate communications, including public relations, investor relations, advertising, and trade shows. With 2,600 employees nationwide, ACS provides information processing services, including data processing, outsourcing, electronic funds transfer (EFT), and information and image management.
