Affiliated Computer Services Announces Renegotiated Outsourcing Contract with Caremark.

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 19, 1996--Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (NASDAQ NM: ACSA), a leading information technology services company, announced today it has restructured and extended its outsourcing agreement with Caremark Inc., its largest client.

The two companies' relationship started in September 1992 when Caremark's Pharmaceutical Services Group (PSG) began outsourcing its DEC data center to ACS. Under that original agreement, ACS also provided an IBM MVS/DB2 platform to support the development and implementation of a new integrated systems environment.

The revised long-term agreement calls for ACS to provide an advanced fault tolerant environment with fully redundant power supplies, telecommunications facilities, and RAID-based DASD superstrings.

Caremark's Pharmaceutical Services Group is the nation's largest independent prescription benefit-management program, servicing millions of Americans through four automated mail service pharmacies and a network of 55,000 retail pharmacies. The new integrated systems platform is a state- of-the-art real time system designed to provide the highest level of customer service to patients and clients.

Kris Gibney, corporate vice president, pharmaceutical services, said, "When we established our initial relationship with ACS, PSG had annual revenues totaling $500 million. At the time, the operations and customers were supported were supported by a DEC-based system originally developed in the early 1980s. Today PSG's revenues are in excess of $1.4 billion."
