, today announced an agreement-in-principle by which Mercantil will repurchase all of the shares from its joint venture partnership with Aetna. Terms were not disclosed.

Aetna International has owned 49 percent of the shares of Seguros Mercantil, as the joint venture is called, since February 1998. With this transaction, Mercantil Servicios Financieros will own 100 percent of Seguros Mercantil.
