) points out that those who choose its plans gain access to the kind of specific cost, clinical quality and efficiency information called for by President Bush in his August 22 Executive Order.

"We are the first insurer to show federal workers what physicians charge for health care services as well as data on their clinical quality and efficiency," said Russ Dickhart, vice president, Aetna Government and Labor business. "This is part of our broader commitment to helping our federal members make more informed decisions about their health care."

Aetna provides its federal members in 11 markets access to doctor-specific price information, and, in some markets, clinical quality and efficiency data to help evaluate a physician's overall value before a service is performed. Federal enrollees have access to price, clinical quality and efficiency information for physicians in Washington, D.C.; Northern Virginia Northern Virginia (NoVA) consists of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park. ; Maryland; Connecticut; Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Springfield, Ohio; Northern Kentucky; Southeast Indiana; and South Florida. Enrollees in Kansas City, Kan. and Mo.; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Pittsburgh, Pa., have access to price-only information.

Consumer-directed plans now in 115 markets

In addition to supporting the federal government's health care transparency efforts, Aetna received approval from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM See Oracle Process Manufacturing. ) to offer the Aetna HealthFund(R) consumer-directed medical plan options in 115 markets, up from 91 markets in 2006. As announced by the Office of Personnel Management, Aetna also is a nationwide carrier for the new Federal Employee Dental and Vision Insurance Program.
