) announced today that it has reached agreement with St. James Parish Hospital on a three-year contract, expanding hospital and physician access for its members in the New Orleans area.

Under the new contract, which took effect Jan. 1, Aetna members can receive covered in-patient and out-patient services, at in-network rates, at St. James Parish Hospital's Lutcher, La. location..

"Aetna is excited to welcome St. James Parish Hospital to its New Orleans-area network," said Greg Parrish, Aetna's head of network operations for Louisiana. "Our goal is to offer our members a wide choice of quality hospitals and physicians in their communities, and this agreement helps us do that."

Aetna provides health benefits to approximately 237,000 members in Louisiana. Those members have access to a contracted network of 84 hospitals 1,722 primary care physicians and 3,647 specialists.
