Aetna Grants $20,000 for Komen Foundation's Mammogram Voucher Program.

) today presented a $20,000 grant to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Pittsburgh. The grant will support Komen's mammogram mammogram /mam·mo·gram/ (mam´o-gram) a radiograph of the breast.

Aetna also will be a major corporate sponsor of this year's Pittsburgh Race for the Cure, which is Komen's signature event to raise funds for breast cancer awareness and research. This year's race will be held May 14.

"Awareness and early detection are key components to targeting and treating breast cancer effectively," said Dr. Michael Mesoras, Aetna's medical director for the Pittsburgh area. "The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has a long history of dedicated advocacy to this issue, and shares Aetna's commitment to improve health outcomes for breast cancer patients. We are delighted to be part of such a valuable program."
