Aetna Announces Southwest Region Small Businesses of the Year; Aetna to Donate $10,000 to Texas Charities.

In recognition of their business achievements and commitment to their community, Aetna will donate $5,000 to Texas Pythian Home, and $5,000 to Youth-Reach on behalf of DYONYX.

"We asked our clients and brokers to tell us about exceptional local businesses. We received nominations from across the country. Each had a special story to tell. The Texas Pythian Home stood out for its dedication to helping the children who rely on its services become responsible, independent adults; DYONYX was exceptional in its business success and commitment to its local community."

DYONYX, nominated by First Harbor Group agent Sallye Tucker, was founded in 1996 by former corporate executives Chuck Orrico and Fred Pratt who decided that there was value in offering big IT company methods and experience to small and medium-sized businesses at a lower cost. The business was immediately profitable, and has weathered financial storms, including the aftermath of September 11, to develop new products and services and remain successful.

Companies are nominated by Aetna customers, non-profit organizations and licensed brokers and agents selling Aetna products. After Aetna named its 2004 regional honorees, each business then selected a charity to receive a donation from Aetna directly on their behalf.

As a non-profit organization, Texas Pythian Home received Aetna's donation directly.DYONYX has directed Aetna's $5,000 charitable donation to be made to Youth-Reach Houston. Youth-Reach assists homeless, damaged and troubled young people to achieve success in life.
