Aethra Selects Ikanos' VDSL2 Chipset for Its Next Generation Residential Gateway Platform; Ikanos Arms Aethra with the Capability to Meet Worldwide Demand for Interactive Broadband Services.

FREMONT, Calif. -- Ikanos Communications, a leading developer of Fiber-Fast(TM) broadband solutions, today announced that Aethra SpA, a leader in the global telecommunications market, is using the Ikanos CleverConnect(TM) 600 Very-High-Bit-Rate Digital Subscriber Line 2 (VDSL2) chipset in its next-generation Home Gateway platform. Carriers deploying the new Ikanos-based Aethra residential gateway (RG) platform will now be able to successfully compete with cable and satellite providers by utilizing both upstream and downstream bandwidth capabilities to deliver high-value triple-play services. The Ikanos-based Aethra RG will also arm carriers with the bandwidth necessary to satisfy growing consumer demand for interactive services such as interactive gaming, video conferencing, peer-to-peer file sharing and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
