Features Ease of Use, Low Profile and High Strength

Aesculap, Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with Spinal Innovations Inc. of Bartlett, Tennessee to market and sell the SHADOW(TM) Spinal System, a complete polyaxial screw system for the treatment of degenerative disc disease Degeneration of the intervertebral disc, which is often called "degenerative disc disease" (DDD) of the spine, is a common disorder of the lower spine and for some people can cause low back pain and/or leg pain (sciatica).  and deformity in the lumbar spine.

"We are pleased to partner with Spinal Innovations to offer surgeons a complete spinal fixation system that is easy to use and results in reduced surgery time," said Dirk Kuyper, executive vice president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president.
of Aesculap. "Not only will this partnership help fill one of Aesculap's strategic portfolio needs in spine, but it will also provide additional research and development benefits for new spine products."

The SHADOW(TM) Spinal System, developed by Spinal Innovations, was configured according to the requirements of spine surgeons to combine low profile, ease of use, and strength in one package. The low profile polyaxial screws are available in multiple lengths from 5.5 mm to 7.5 mm in diameter. Rods are 5.5 mm in diameter and also available in multiple lengths. A variety of rod-to-rod connectors along with simple instrumentation provide a myriad of options to meet clinical challenges.

"We are excited to partner with Aesculap in advancing spinal implant research and development," said Marc Richelsoph, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. ) since there was little prospective data on the effectiveness of the pedicle screw. One of the study's most compelling findings was that patients whose treatment for degenerative spinal disorders included pedicle screws achieved successful spinal fusion at a rate of nearly 90 percent compared with a 70 percent fusion rate in patients who did not receive pedicle screw implants.

The use of the bone screw in the pedicle has proven to be a successful option for spine stabilization for specific types of conditions and has been a valuable tool for spine stabilization. When properly used, pedicle screws provide the same safety and efficacy as comparable internal fixation devices used to stabilize spinal fractures.
