LORD AERYN has already shown plenty of ability and, with the profile to go even further for the in-form Richard Fahey stable, can come out on top in a typically trappy nursery.

The son of the talented if wayward Antonius Pius made his debut in a decent-looking maiden at Newcastle at the end of June.

In the event he was too inexperienced to cope with impressive winner Silenceofthewind, crossing the line fifth of the 12 runners.

But that debut contained plenty of promise for the future, and Lord Aeryn duly got off the mark at the second time of asking when contesting a seven-runner Ayr maiden in the middle of last month.

Although he hit a flat spot entering the final quarter mile, Paul Hanagan's mount responded to pressure to beat Always Dazzling by three-quarters of a length.

It's likely the form of that race is nothing special - third home So Bazaar, fourth-placed Bahraj and last-of-seven Daphne Du Maurier were all beaten on their subsequent starts.

But that doesn't alter the fact that Lord Aeryn is a colt with a bright future who can exploit a rating of 70 here.

Fahey also runs Elusive Sue who was expected to score at Redcar last time but proved no match for ready winner Bond Fastrac who is also in the line up today.

In a race where few if any can be ruled out, Step In Time, narrowly beaten at Ascot last time, and She's Ok are heading in the right direction and head the list of dangers.
