Aerus Electrolux USA Championship Makes Move to ESPN; ESPN Signs for Additional Day of Coverage and Later Finish Time.

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BW SportsWire)--Jan. 31, 2002

The 2002 Aerus Electrolux USA Championship, set for May 9-12 at the Legends Club of Tennessee in Franklin, will be televised by ESPN this year, with an additional day of national television coverage and a later finish time on Mother's Day, the last tournament day.

"The Aerus Electrolux USA Championship is already established as one of the top-tier tournaments on the LPGA schedule," said Steve Nieman, tournament director. "ESPN validates that as we are the only event in the 12-tournament State Farm LPGA Series to receive three full days of ESPN coverage."

The Aerus Electrolux USA Championship will be aired Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11 from 2-4 p.m. CDT and Sunday, May 12 (Mother's Day) from 3-5 p.m. CDT. In previous years, CBS televised the tournament on Saturday and Sunday only with an earlier finish time on the last day.

"We've scheduled a later finish time this year so families can make the tournament a part of their Mother's Day celebration," said Nieman.

Hosted by Vince Gill and Amy Grant, the Aerus Electrolux USA Championship will be held at the Legends Club of Tennessee in Franklin.
