This amount is calculated by subtracting the following items from gross sales: merchandise returned for credit, allowances for damaged or missing goods, freight
 for the three months ended September 28, 1996, totaled $29,285,000, up 6% from $27,678,000 for the three months ended September 30, 1995. Net income totaled $223,000, or $0.04 per share, versus a loss of $406,000, or $0.08 per share, in the third quarter last year. The book to bill ratio for the third quarter of 1996 was 1.02.

Net sales for the first nine months of 1996 totaled $94,479,000, compared with $98,556,000 for the first nine months of 1995. The company reported a special provision of $5,300,000 at the end of the second quarter of 1996 principally related to its Aero M operations in Mexico Mexico, city, Mexico
