Aerojet successfully completes Russian NK-33 rocket engine benchmark tests.


SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 21, 1995--Aerojet, a segment of GenCorp, successfully completed final benchmark tests of the Russian NK-33 rocket engine at the Sacramento facility.

The NK-33 rocket engine surpassed the requirements for next generation evolved launch vehicles This is a list of space launch vehicles sorted by country/operator in alphabetical order, commercial vehicles are listed under their corresponding country.

The series of five tests, which began Oct. 17 and ended Nov. 15, included two tests that demonstrated the NK-33 engine's ability to meet Atlas IIAR IIAR International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration

Aerojet is working with Samara Samara, river, Russia
Samara (səmä`rə), river, c.360 mi (580 km) long, rising in the foothills of the S Urals, European Russia. It flows generally northwest, and joins the Volga River at Samara.
 State Scientific and Production Enterprise-NK Engines to import and modify an additional 70 NK-33 engines that are currently stored in Samara, about 1,000 kilometers southeast of Moscow. Aerojet is also acquiring a license to produce new engines in its Sacramento facility by the end of the decade.

The simple Russian construction techniques promise not only an easy engine to manufacture, but a significant reduction in price compared to competitive engine prototypes.
