Aeroflot Russian Airlines Takes Part in the Organization of an Exhibition Dedicated for the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations Creation.MOSCOW -- September 16th, 2005 marks the opening of the New York based exhibition of Russian art, titled "Russia!" Founded in 1939 as the Museum of Non-objective Art, the Guggenheim is known for its remarkable circular building (1959) designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It holds major exhibitions of the works of contemporary artists. Its permanent collection includes, among many modern works, numerous pieces by Brancusi and Kandinsky.. Aeroflot, the Russian Federation flagship airline, is the official sponsor-carrier for the exhibition. The guests of the exhibition will also see many pieces rarely shown abroad: Ninth Wave by I. Ayvazovsky, Barge-Haulers on the Volga Volga (vŏl`gə, Rus. vôl`gə), river, c.2,300 mi (3,700 km) long, central and E European Russia. It is the longest river of Europe and the principal waterway of Russia, being navigable (with locks bypassing the dams) almost throughout its course. Malevich, recently acquired by the Hermitage Museum, for its collection. A close cooperation between Aeroflot and Guggenheim Museum underscores the importance of the exhibition and the great responsibility, assigned to one of the leading international carriers, in transporting the prestigious works of art. According to the airline's Chairman and CEO, Valery Okulov, the Russian national carrier traditionally supports various events and actions directed toward endorsement of the Russian art and culture abroad. "Partnership with organizers of the "Russia!" exhibition is quite a natural step in realization of this honorable mission for Aeroflot," says Okulov. Aeroflot is an open joint-stock company, and the largest Russian airline, formed in 1923. 51% of stock belongs to the Russian government. Aeroflot controls around 11% of Russia's domestic air transportation market and 39% internationally. Net profit for 2004 is documented at 6330,143M rubles (equivalent to $219M). Aeroflot is on Air Transport World's list of 25 leading airlines, based on financial indicators. In 2004 Aeroflot carried 6,862 million passengers. Its fleet consists of 90 planes.
