HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Digital Mapping Camera's High-Quality Image Output Will Enable Complete Digital Process

Intergraph (NASDAQ: INGR) Mapping and Geospatial Solutions today announced Aero Asahi Corporation (AAC) (Kawagoe City, Japan) has purchased Intergraph's Z/I Imaging Digital Mapping Camera (DMC(R)) to transform its operation into a fully digital process - from mission planning to orthophoto and mapping products output. Using the DMC, AAC expects to enhance processes with increased image quality, accuracy and speed as well as cost savings. The DMC will extend AAC's capability to capture precise, high-quality imagery, which is the basis of the photogrammetric products supplied to worldwide customers such as medium-scale orthophotos, large-scale maps and hazard maps.

"We wanted to change from our previous analog process to a digital process so that we could improve quality, reduce cost and ensure rapid delivery of final products," said Akito Sato, Director, Sales Management Department, Geoinformatics Division, Aero Asahi Corporation. "We have already successfully used the DMC in conjunction with our Optech LIDAR (ALMAPS-G4) to deliver highly precise 3D spatial data for disaster jobs just one day after measurement. The DMC will also be used to deliver imagery to the state investigation service for fixed assets taxation purposes."

The DMC captures imagery with proven ground resolutions as small as 1 1/2 inches per pixel. Imagery acquired with the DMC maintains its initial high geometric and radiometric quality throughout each stage of the project lifecycle - mission planning, sensor management, photogrammetric production and client/server image management, storage and distribution. Another design feature of the DMC is its ability to collect aerial frame photography in panchromatic, color and color infrared bands simultaneously. This allows three separate high-resolution end products - black and white, pan-sharpened color and false-color infrared - to be generated from a single airborne data set.
