Advocacy and Education Fund staffers are now working with the new federal Election Assistance Commission, providing information on issues such as voter registration forms, election security and provisional balloting.

The National Lobby Corps, founded in 1971, is a group of dedicated League members from the Washington metropolitan area The Washington Metropolitan Area, formally known as the Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC-VA-MD-WV MSA is a U.S. Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) as defined by the United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as of November 2004.  whose goal is to amplify the League's voice on Capitol Hill. For more than 30 years, the Lobby Corps has brought hundreds of issues to members of Congress. The group is briefed on specific issues once a month by the Advocacy staff before going to the Hill. "Each time the Lobby Corps lobbies on the Hill, we win," says Lobby Corps Chair Carole Conors. Most recently, the Lobby Corps urged key Senators to cosponsor co·spon·sor

 S. 1709, the Security and Freedom Ensured Act The Security and Freedom Enhancement (SAFE) Act is legislation proposed by Senators Larry Craig (R-ID), John E. Sununu (R-NH) and Richard Durbin (D-IL) which would add checks and balances to the Patriot Act.  (See Hill Bulletin, p. 4).

This spring, the League joined coalition partners in successfully opposing the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act was passed by the U.S. Senate on July 29, 2005 by a vote of 65-31. On October 20, 2005 it was passed by the House of Representatives 283-144. It was signed into law on October 262005 by President Bush and became Public Law 109-92. " in the Senate. The League was concerned that this bill provided the firearms industry with special legal immunity that undermined public safety and blocked efforts to improve gun safety. Also in the spring, the March for Women's Lives The March for Women's Lives was a demonstration for abortion rights and women's rights, held April 25, 2004 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and possibly the largest protest ever held on the Mall. , cosponsored by the League, brought hundreds of League members from all over the country to Washington, DC.
