Bowed, stringed instrument, the bass member of the violin family. Its full name means “little violone”—i.e., “little big viol.
 

Carlos Prieto Carlos Prieto is a Mexican-born cello player and composer. Prieto is one of the most respected cellist who regularly premiers musical masterpieces composed for him by Latin American, North American and European composers.

In 1720 the elderly violin violin, family of stringed musical instruments having wooden bodies whose backs and fronts are slightly convex, the fronts pierced by two f-hole-shaped resonance holes.  maker Stradivari made a masterpiece: it was known as the 'Red Stradivari', but it wasn't a violin--it was a cello. Under its new name, the Piatti, it left Italy on a tour, to eventually become the author's key to success. Here is the history of Piatti, from its creation through its different owners.
