The stress of college admissions, the craziness of a first love, the struggle to be accepted by peers, and the pressure of nailing the game's winning shot at the buzzer proves to be all in a day's work for Imani and her crew. Hardrick does a marvelous job of recreating a true-to-life world that lures readers into the lives of regular "can't-wait-till-I'm-grown" teenagers trying to find a place for themselves in the real world. Sometimes you find yourself vicariously owning Fatima's attitude; wishing you had Imani's talent; hoping you never find yourself in Mercedes's shoes; mad praying for a man like Tyler to sweep you off your feet. The suspense that Hardrick captures will always leave you waiting to see what happens next, but the truth is, you'll never guess.
