Adventure is to save some lives; APPEAL: Intrepid mum launches treks to boost city cancer research.

AN intrepid mum who has raised more than pounds 200,000 for cancer research is hoping to inspire others to do the same.

Kay White has trekked in the Sahara, skied at the North Pole North Pole, northern end of the earth's axis, lat. 90°N. It is distinguished from the north magnetic pole. U.S. explorer Robert E. Peary is traditionally credited as being the first to reach (1909) the North Pole. In 1926, Richard E.  and scaled the Himalayas - all in the name of Cure Leukaemia.

Now she's giving other adventurers the chance to fulfil their dreams and save lives with the launch of her not-for-profit organisation Redventure.

The travel company is offering adventures to Kilimanjaro, the Sahara and Peru as well as a coast-to--coast cycle trip across Britain.

, Kay hopes others will consider the challenge of a lifetime.

"I'm a 45-year-oldmumof three," said Kay, from Halesowen. "If I can do it, anyone can!"

It was the diagnosis of both her former husband and best friend with acute myeloid myeloid /my·eloid/ (mi´e-loid)

2. having the appearance of myelocytes, but not derived from bone marrow.
 leukaemia which first motivated Kay. And she says she will never forget her first expedition - dog sledging to see the Northern Lights.

"I remember feeling so privileged that I could do it. I feel like it's my mission to help others feel the same," she said.

Her ex-husband is in remission and her best friend is taking drugs to improve his quality of life.

The money goes to the Birmingham- based Centre for Clinical Haematology, opened in March 2006.
