plant. The Ultraband system is complementary to existing cable technologies and service offerings. Advent's technology can be deployed into cable networks without disrupting service. The Ultraband system requires no outside plant modifications and is based on standard QAM (1) (Quality Assessment Measurement) A system used to measure and analyze voice transmission.

(2) (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) A modulation technique that employs both phase modulation (PM) and amplitude modulation (AM).
modulation within the existing cable spectrum.

The USR 4400, a compact version of Advent's USR 8800, is ideal for HFC plants where spectrum is limited because it maximizes spectral efficiency Spectral efficiency or spectrum efficiency refers to the amount of information that can be transmitted over a given bandwidth in a specific digital communication system.  by reusing frequencies throughout the plant. A USR 4400 supports up to 64 subscribers, each with a 2.5 Mbps downstream, 500 Kbps upstream dedicated IP connection. The USR 4400 has an ROI (Return On Investment) The monetary benefits derived from having spent money on developing or revising a system. In the IT world, there are more ways to compute ROI than Carter has liver pills (and for those of you who never heard of that expression, it means a lot).  of 14 weeks, based on Advent's list price, allowing cable operators to generate profits quickly.

"Our value comes from our ability to deploy deep in the plant and reuse the cable operator's spectrum," said President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Advent Networks, Geoff Tudor.

The Ultraband platform allows cable operators to capture revenue opportunities beyond traditional residential services. By providing dedicated, constant bit rate connections to each subscriber, the Ultraband system enables cable operators to penetrate the commercial services space -- in particular the lucrative small-to-medium business segment. Additionally, Advent's Ultraband technology allows operators to deliver converged video, voice and data services over a single, dedicated IP connection.
