Advantage Memory First To Market With PC100 Upgrades; 64MB & 128MB PC100 Spec Modules Available for Immediate Shipment.

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 27, 1998--Advantage Memory, a global manufacturer of computer memory, Friday announced the release of 64MB and 128MB SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) A type of dynamic RAM (DRAM) memory chip that has been widely used since the late 1990s. SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  ECC (1) (Error-Correcting Code) A type of memory that corrects errors on the fly. See ECC memory.

(2) (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) A public key cryptography method that provides fast decryption and digital signature processing.
and non-ECC modules manufactured to Intel's PC100 version 1.0 specification. Advantage Memory is the first memory manufacturer to release what is most likely the final specification.

Brian Patton, director of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  Development at Advantage Memory, commented: "The decision to manufacture all PC100 upgrades using red PCB's to facilitate easy identification has led to the nickname (1) An alternate name used to identify yourself in a chat room.

 'Firestick' among our Development Team.

"A key element of bringing the PC100 upgrades to market this early has been our relationship with Intel. As one of the few memory developers who works with Intel under non-disclosure, Advantage Memory receives pre-release systems and chipsets allowing us to provide superior product quality and availability to the channel."

All PC100 products have undergone environmental, signal analysis, electrical and a variety of functional and compatibility tests in an Intel server using the PC100 specification. Due to non-disclosure agreements A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also called a confidential disclosure agreement (CDA), confidentiality agreement or secrecy agreement, is a legal contract between at least two parties that outlines confidential materials or knowledge the parties  with Intel, Advantage Memory cannot release any specific information regarding the chipsets or systems.

All of Advantage Memory's PC100 products, including the soon to be released 16MB and 32MB upgrades, have been engineered to achieve true 100MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  operation. Advantage Memory's modules operate at bus speeds exceeding 125MHz, ensuring the company's upgrades will be compatible with future technological advancements.

"As the industry progresses to 100MHz and beyond, many memory manufacturers will have difficulty building modules that function properly," commented Steve Mood, Advantage Memory's director of engineering. "Advantage Memory's commitment to technical expertise will allow us to not only build modules which are compatible with the leading edge systems, but remain at the forefront of technology development."

The 16MB and 32MB PC100 version 1.0 modules are scheduled to be released in ECC and non-ECC versions March 16, 1998. Advantage Memory has finalized See finalization.  compatibility testing Compatibility testing, part of software non-functional tests, is testing conducted on the application to evaluate the application's compatibility with the computing environment.  for 256MB upgrades in anticipation of increasing memory capacities. As Intel has not yet released a PC100 spec for 256MB modules, the company's upgrades have been built using the spec as a model. The modules are available for evaluation immediately.
