Advanstar Communications Appoints Stephen Twombly Group Publisher of Sensors, Cadalyst, and Frontline Solutions Magazines.

Advanstar Communications Inc. has appointed Stephen D. Twombly to Group Publisher of Sensors, Cadalyst, and Frontline Solutions magazines. Mr. Twombly will oversee advertising and marketing for these publications.

Mr. Twombly's career in publishing began more than 20 years ago at McGraw-Hill Publications, where he oversaw several magazines. He moved to International Data Group (IDG), handling publishing of eight magazines, including GamePro, PCResource (merged into PCWorld), AmigaWorld, RUN, inCider (merged into MacWorld), and 80 Micro.

From IDG Mr. Twombly served as Publisher of Reseller Management at Reed Business Information Inc., where he increased its profitability more than +600%; he repositioned Digital News & Review, increasing its profitability more than 200%. He also served as Associate Publisher and National Sales Manager of DATAMATION. In 1997, he was rehired by IDG as Vice President, Sales of Solutions Integrator (Framingham, MA), and has spent the last few years as Vice President, Publisher and Vice President, Sales, at New Age Publishing. Most recently, Mr. Twombly was Publishing Director at Weider Publications, Inc., for Natural Health Magazine.

In addition to his experience in publishing he is listed in Who's Who in America, 1988-1991, has won several honors, and has been a keynote speaker at VARCompass. He graduated from Drew University in 1976, Summa Cum Laude, Sigma Phi Honor Society, and completed coursework specific to publishing at Stanford University, Cornell University, and Lighthouse Publishing. He is currently a board member of NAPRA (Network of Alternatives for Publishers, Retailers, and Artists); and was a panel member of Book Expo of America, The State of the LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) Market in 2001.
