MILFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2004

Advanstar Communications is proud to announce the launch of a new Abilities Expo in Metro Detroit The Detroit metropolitan area, often referred to as Metro Detroit, is the metropolitan area located in southeastern Michigan, centered on the city of Detroit. As the home of the "Big Three" American automakers (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler), it is the world's . Abilities Expo/Metro Detroit joins several other successful Abilities Expos for 2004 and is expected to attract a large number of individuals with disabilities, senior citizens, their families and caregivers, as well as healthcare and education professionals in the Metro Detroit area.

Abilities Expo/Metro Detroit will be held September 17-19 at the Novi Expo Center and will complement the other highly successful Abilities Expos throughout the country.

"Our strategy for 2004 is to focus our attention on those markets with the strongest potential for high attendance from both attendees and exhibitors," adds Waltersdorf. "To allow us to meet this goal, we will be canceling the shows scheduled in New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  and Florida and adding the Metro/Detroit show, " says Waltersdorf. Following is the list of dates and locations for the five shows to be held in 2004:

-- Abilities/New York Metro: April 16-18 at the New Jersey

Convention Center in Edison, NJ.

-- Abilities/Southern California: June 11-13 at the Anaheim

Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.

-- Abilities Expo/Chicago Metro: August 13-15 at the Donald E.

Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.

-- Abilities Expo/Metro Detroit: September 17-19 at the Novi Expo

Center in Detroit, MI.

-- Abilities Expo/Northern California: November 12-14 at the
