Advanced Test Data Software Available.

RowGen Version 2 Simulates and Protects Real Data

MELBOURNE, Fla. -- IRI, developer of the CoSort data manipulation suite for open systems, is now shipping RowGen Version 2: test data software for application development, load testing and outsourcing. RowGen eliminates the need for testing with real data, and overcomes traditional limits of low load volumes and inaccurate data.

RowGen V2 builds large test sets in production table and file structures by leveraging existing data models and metadata, sophisticated data generation and selection techniques, built-in data transformations, and custom formatting functions.

Test Data Targets

IRI engineer Rob Howard explains that RowGen V2 "provides fast and easy ways to build test data targets that are safe, real-looking, and preserve referential integrity. RowGen targets can have any range of data types, values, and volumes."

From DDL-compliant models, RowGen V2 creates test data for:

* Oracle

* Sybase

* SQL Server

* Teradata

* IBM DB2 UDB

* Packaged Apps (e.g. PeopleSoft, Informatica)

* Interdependent Flat Files

RowGen also creates detail and summary test files in these formats:

* ACUCOBOL-GT Vision

* Fixed & Delimited de·lim·it   also de·lim·i·tate
tr.v. de·lim·it·ed also de·lim·i·tat·ed, de·lim·it·ing also de·lim·i·tat·ing, de·lim·its also de·lim·i·tates

FlexITy Solutions (Ontario) uses RowGen to create test data for a financial services client prohibited by privacy laws from testing with database extracts. Project manager Nolan Evans conservatively estimated 200 programming hours to simulate their data. "RowGen gave us 16 large, referentially correct test tables in four hours on a PC, and a huge competitive advantage in bidding that job."

Other Features

Using GUI or 4GL front-ends, RowGen users can customize and transform their test files to reflect their business rules and production report formats.

For audit purposes, RowGen creates XML job logs that help companies comply with GLBA GLBA Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 (Financial Modernization Act of 1999)
