"The performance and reliability of our technology makes it a natural fit to Sealevel's commitment to successful and stable solutions for demanding applications," said Liisa Walsh, president of Tactical Software. "Like Sealevel, Tactical has a strong track record of offering products that provide long-term compatibility and years of service in real-world environments."

The COM port redirector technology from Tactical Software lets applications use SeaLINK serial servers immediately, with no software changes. Virtual COM ports are created by the redirector's kernel-level driver, which exclusively uses Tactical's own technology and is available for versions of the Windows operating system ranging from Windows 98 to Windows XP. Each virtual COM port is independently configurable to make a specific device on a SeaLINK serial server appear to be directly connected to a local COM port on a Windows-based PC.

"Bringing Tactical's software technology into the SeaLINK product line gives us the high quality redirector our customers expect from us," said Earle Foster, vice president of development and marketing at Sealevel. "Additionally, the new SeaLINK Redirector will take advantage of the RFC (Request For Comments) A document that describes the specifications for a recommended technology. Although the word "request" is in the title, if the specification is ratified, it becomes a standards document.  2217 TCP/IP TCP/IP
