Advanced Power Technology Announces Hermetic COOLMOS Power MOSFETs for Military/Aerospace.

BEND, Ore. -- Advanced Power Technology (Nasdaq:APTI APTI Association for Preservation Technology International
APTI Air Pollution Training Institute
) is pleased to announce a new product line. COOLMOS(R) Power MOSFETs are now available in hermetic hermetic /her·met·ic/ (her-met´ik) impervious to air.

her·met·ic or her·met·i·cal
adj.
Completely sealed, especially against the escape or entry of air.
packages for use in Military and Aerospace applications and harsh environments where added protection is required.

Key Features

--Lowest Area Specific RDS (1) (Remote Data Services) A set of programming interfaces from Microsoft that enables users to update data on the Internet or intranets from their ActiveX-enabled browser.  (on) for Low Conduction Loses, Smaller Package/Less Heat Sink A material that absorbs heat. Typically made of aluminum, heat sinks are widely used in amplifiers and other electronic devices that build up heat. Small heat sinks are the most economical method for cooling microprocessors and other chips.

--Low Gate Charge for Lower Driving Requirements

--Low Internal Gate Resistance for Low Switching Losses and Controllable EMI-Noise

--Outstanding Power Handling Capability for Lower System Costs, Less Volume

--600Volts and 800Volts

--7.4 Amps to 33.5 Amps

--TO-257, TO-254, and TO-258 Packages Available

--Modules, Commercial Plastic, and Dice Also Available

The COOLMOS(R) Power MOSFETs have a specific on-resistance significantly lower than conventional MOSFETs and thus allow for a smaller chip for the same total on-resistance. In addition, the COOLMOS(R) MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor) The most popular and widely used type of field effect transistor (see FET). MOSFETs are either NMOS (n-channel) or PMOS (p-channel) transistors, which are fabricated as individually packaged  maintains many of the traditional advantages of the conventional MOSFET such as simple drive requirements, fast switching capability, and ruggedness. In some applications the COOLMOS(R) MOSFET can provide a lower cost solution than a comparable conventional MOSFET. When combined with hermetic packaging these devices offer unique design solutions to military and aerospace systems. MIL-PRF-19500 screening is available.

APT will be offering both 600V and 800V COOLMOS(R) Power MOSFETs in TO-257, TO-254, and TO-258 hermetic packages. Data sheets describing the features and benefits are available to assist the designer. These may be downloaded from APT's website at www.advancedpower.com or obtained from the factory.
