Advanced Photonix Inc. Announces New Low-Noise, Large Area X-Ray Detectors.

:API), announced that it has recently introduced a new series of highly sensitive, low-noise X-ray detectors, based on their proprietary Large Area Avalanche Photodiode (LAAPD) technology.

The LAAPD is a rugged, compact, all solid state alternative to the photomultiplier tube (PMT See photomultiplier tube. ), and the new detectors incorporate a thermoelectrically cooled LAAPD with a charge sensitive preamplifier Preamplifier

A voltage amplifier suitable for operation with a low-level input signal. It is intended to be connected to another amplifier with a higher input level.
