Advanced Photonix Announces Replacement of Its Independent Auditor; Appointment of Schmidt to CFO.

CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2000

Advanced Photonix, Inc.(R) (AMEX:API), the leading developer and manufacturer of large avalanche photodiodes (LAAPD), today announced that it had replaced Arthur Andersen LLP with Farber & Hass as its independent auditor.

It stated that the purpose of this change was to reduce audit expenses and that Advanced Photonix had no substantive disagreements with Arthur Andersen LLP.

Advanced Photonix also announced that Susan Schmidt has been appointed as its Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, effective March 28. Schmidt brings with her an extensive and varied financial background and has worked with multiple manufacturing, distribution and retail organizations over the past 14 years.
