Arthur Andersen LLP, based in Chicago, was once one of the "Big Five" accounting firms (the other four are PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, Ernst & Young and KPMG), performing LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol with Farber & Hass as its independent auditor Independent Auditor

It stated that the purpose of this change was to reduce audit expenses and that Advanced Photonix had no substantive disagreements with Arthur Andersen LLP.

Advanced Photonix also announced that Susan Schmidt Susan Schmidt is a reporter with the Washington Post and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting in 2006.

She is co-author with Michael Weisskopf of Truth at Any Cost: Ken Starr and the Unmaking of Bill Clinton (ISBN 0-06-019485-5) has been appointed as its Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer, effective March 28. Schmidt brings with her an extensive and varied financial background and has worked with multiple manufacturing, distribution and retail organizations over the past 14 years.
